The Charles Miceli Award 2023 has been awarded to Deborah Farrugia, Head of the Female Unit at San Blas Therapeutic Community. The grant will allow Deborah to read a Master’s degree in Family Therapy and Systematic Practice at the University of Malta.

Established five years ago by The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, the scope behind this award is to strengthen the skills of frontline workers in social work. Charles Miceli was a front liner with Caritas Malta for several years and an Administrator of Fondazzjoni Dar il – Hena, originated by The Alfred Mizzi Foundation in 2015. The Fondazzjoni opened Malta’s first Soup Kitchen and night shelter seven years ago in partnership with Caritas Malta and the Ministry for Social Justice and Solidarity, the Family and Children’s Rights.
