The Alfred Mizzi Foundation has recently supported Saydon Studio, ensuring it secured the means to produce and release the live cast recording for Il-Każin tal-Imqarbin. To date, it has been streamed over 13,500 times, allowing a piece of Maltese musical theatre – with all its themes of love, grief, and marginalised communities – to reach a much wider audience. The show, which tells the story of the first AIDS cases in our country, holds an even broader message: it speaks of the dangers of being denied the right to live and love authentically. Saydon Studio has taken the essence of this audience experience and transformed it into three music videos featuring its original cast. It is music that has provided solace to many. And thanks to this Foundation’s support, it can continue offering this for many years to come.
