Now that the structure for the tapestry chamber at the St. John’s Co Cathedral museum has been completed, the grant from The Alfred Mizzi Foundation kicks in. This grant, with a value of €250,000 will cover the costs of all equipment and accessories required to implement an optimal environment to ensure that the 29 tapestries of Ramon Rabasa de Perellós are not only displayed in their finest glory but also protected from excessive temperature, light and humidity. The magnificent tapestries underwent a 16-year long conservation project at the home of their original weavers in Belgium. The outer walls of the tapestry hall were designed by AP Valletta, with the stone taken from a selected quarry on the outskirts of Siggiewi, homogenous to the stone of the Cathedral itself.
